Sunday 5 August
Another day of sun and showers, it would be lovely to have one day with nothing but sunshine again. Kevin was out at the crack of dawn in the sunshine (well 9am) giving the van the once over with the faux leather. It’s a good way of cleaning the van without having to result to the bucket. Not that it needed cleaning more of a buff up.
We decided to go to another Mine today this one is only 3.5 miles down the road but houses one of only six working engines of its type in the country. Redruth have three of them? So as clearly they are so important and we are members of the National Trust we had better go and have a look.
Surprisingly, to get access to East Pool Mine we had to park up in Morrison’s car park. The site is split in two and to get to the other side we had to walk past the entrance to Morrison’s to the main road, cross over go past Lidl and you’re there. Apparently the two sites were one when it was a fully working mine. The staff were great and did themselves proud with their anecdotes and knowledge.
It was worth the visit here are some pictures
